CALCRETE SAMPLING PROGRAMME DEFINES URANIUM,

GOLD AND BASE METALS TARGETS IN KALABITY TENEMENT, SA

Return to top of page

Joint venturer Western Plains Gold Ltd (ASX Code: WPG) has advised that it has completed an extensive calcrete sampling programme within EL 3297 Kalabity in the Curnamona Province west of Broken Hill. The sampling programme was designed to provide tenement-wide regional geochemical coverage and to follow up known airborne radiometric anomalies together with lag and rock chip geochemical anomalies from previous explorers. The location of the project area in relation to other uranium mines and prospects in South Australia is shown in the figure below.

The Kalabity tenement hosts one known uranium occurrence at the KR4 prospect where previous sampling of vein material by PlatSearch returned assays of up to 3.46% uranium. WPG’s recent calcrete sampling has defined one significant new uranium anomaly together with 11 gold and base metal anomalies that will become the focus for follow-up systematic bedrock sampling and possible deeper RC drilling.
